Owner and Principal Interior Designer

A boutique design firm located in the Baltimore / Washington DC area, Laura Hodges Studio focuses on creating beautiful, tailored spaces while fully expressing every client’s individual style and taste.

Principal Laura Hodges is known for an international aesthetic along with a love for unique and dynamic environments. Laura’s childhood home was located in a small, picturesque town in northern England and her love of design began in early childhood. Influenced by a Norwegian grandmother, British mother and Jamaican father, Laura developed an early appreciation for travel and diverse cultures, having traveled extensively to over thirty countries -- from Greece and Morocco to Thailand, Cuba and Peru.

With degrees in both Business and Interior Design, from the New York School of Interior Design, as well as LEED accreditation for sustainable design, Laura was also mentored by and worked with distinguished New York based interior designers Jamie Drake and Thomas Jayne before launching her own design studio in 2016.

Laura Hodges Studio’s signature aesthetic is modern, tailored, and eclectic, incorporating unique vintage and antique finds, curated art and natural elements.

With an experienced eye for detail and design, Laura Hodges Studio delivers a top-tier concierge level of service so that, from concept to completion, clients find the design process to be as enjoyable as the design itself.

In 2018, Home & Design featured Laura as one of their ‘Designers to Watch.’  And 2019 brought more accolades when Laura was honored by both Traditional Home as a New Trad and by House Beautiful as a Next Wave Designer. Laura was named one of the top 20 Designers for 2020 by Sotheby’s Home and she won a Luxe Red Award for best Contemporary/Modern space from Luxe Magazine. As a brand ambassador for the Sustainable Furnishings Council, Laura works to increase awareness for sustainable interior design. The studio has completed projects in Florida, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey and New York.

Located in Catonsville, Maryland, DOMAIN by Laura Hodges Studio is both a brick-and-mortar and online boutique home decor shop, featuring a curated collection of local and globally sourced fair trade and sustainable home decor, original art and one-of-a-kind pieces.

A Modern Take on Classic Design.

Our Philosophy...  Beautifully designed spaces welcome us, surprise us with their thoughtful details, and support a more balanced life. We believe that life is better with great design and a well designed home is a sanctuary that can renew us each day. We find that a well designed public space allows everyone to feel welcome and caters to our commonalities. As we work together, we explore how you currently live to see how a well designed home could make your life more uncomplicated, more enjoyable and more efficient. A thoughtful approach leads to a better and more beautiful design, customized and tailored to you. Good design is also sustainable design and we make a commitment to our clients, our community and our environment to be eco-conscious in our design practices.

Our Purpose... Laura is a LEED AP and a GREEN AP which means she has completed rigorous sustainability training and demonstrated extensive knowledge of and dedication to sustainable design practices. This includes everything from sourcing fair trade and renewable resources and donating unwanted furnishings to optimizing energy efficiency and indoor air quality, and recycling cabinetry and building materials. We make design decisions and selections that encourage the sustainability of our planet's resources so responsible and high quality vendors, manufacturers, products and services are always given priority. These practices lead us to designing a home or public space that is both enjoyable and healthy for you while being considerate of our environment. We are committed to donating our time and resources to local charities such as the The Children’s Home, the Catonsville Women's Giving Circle and Second Chance, and can also coordinate the donation of your unwanted household goods and furnishings. Most recently we facilitated the donation of a full kitchen and three bathrooms during a renovation, and we also designed a new cafe for The Children’s Home, coordinating both donated and discounted goods and services to help bring the design to life.

Our Partnership... Whether you have a full renovation, new custom home or commercial space, our process is designed to be as streamlined, efficient and enjoyable as possible so that you can simply look forward to the finished project.
