It's the Season for Beautiful Tables!

As the autumn leaves continue to fall and we welcome cooler weather, we’re reminded of just how close the holidays are! In fact, after a quick one day visit to Nashville this week, our Southern Living Idea House has now been transformed into a Holiday House, complete with fabulous ideas for decorating more sustainably this holiday season. We hope you’ll join us for the Virtual Holiday House live on SouthernLiving.com on December 7th!

One of our favorite parts of the holidays and welcoming friends and family into our home is creating a welcoming spread and tablescape. When decorating our tables for the holidays, we love keeping it simple and layered. Keep reading for our guide to creating a beautiful spread (including some favorite pieces from Domain…)

01. Linens, linens, linens!

We love layering linens in our tablescapes, especially ones that reflect the deeper autumnal hues. Our stone washed linen napkins in sage and wheat are two beautiful tones that complement one another so well for the fall season.

02. Wooden elements

Tying into the warmth of the season, you can include wooden bowls, serving boards and wooden salad servers into our spread. Especially when creating a charcuterie board or displaying an appetizer, we find that wooden pieces, like these, add a rustic and handmade quality to the table.

03. Handcrafted Ceramics + Mis-matched Pottery

Similar to including wooden pieces, we also love creating a unique spread with handcrafted ceramics. Including mis-matched pottery or one-of-a-kind pieces creates a unique and eclectic feel. You can create a mix of ceramics with our natural stoneware bowls from Krystal Osman.

04. Foraged Elements + Natural Cuttings

One of our favorite ways to bring nature into our spaces is through foraging for what grows locally to you. If you want to be a bit adventurous and go beyond the flowers at your market and display fresh branches and cuttings from your garden.

05. Candles

Create even more warmth through candles, both pillar and tapered. We love including various candle styles and heights in our spread to create depth and dimension. Our most recent favorite has been layering tapered candles paired with our ceramic candle holders. Combined with linens and some natural greens, they create the most cozy, natural feel.
