Week 3 Of The One Room Challenge!
We've been having lovely weather on the east coast this fall (so far!) and we're excited to celebrate the changing season with a beautiful new window display at Domain! We'll be working with a local florist to bring you some unique ideas for fall florals and seasonal decor updates. In the meantime, we're sharing our inspiration boards for the new windows and delving a little deeper into our design process for Week 3 of the One Room Challenge.
Now, more than ever, we are finding time to slow down and indulge in self-care, whether it's reading a book, putting on a face mask, or soaking in the scent of calming essential oils. At Domain, we have some new arrivals that will make your at-home spa and self-care experience nothing short of relaxing.
Our go-to for the at-home spa experience is the Lavender Body Scrub from Earth Elements Soapworks. Blended with all natural ingredients and essential oils, this sugar-based body scrub will leave your skin feeling smooth and refreshed, while the lavender calms and relaxes.
If your skin is feeling stressed, our new skincare from Little Seed Farm will do the trick. The Elasticity Serum and Goat’s Milk Moisturizer are the perfect duo to prep skin for whatever the day may bring (and make your skin look dewy and fresh!) Plus we have testers to try it out!

Speaking of the One Room Challenge, this week we developed a furniture plan for Oprah's virtual living room and incorporated new built-in cabinetry and a window bench for a cozy reading spot. The new built-in cabinetry will have drawers for storage and open shelves above for decorative items. Normally we would incorporate additional storage in the base of the window bench too but in this case, since we have lots of storage in the cabinets, we're opting for a more modern and streamlined look. We really wanted to make this large room feel more intimate but also give lots of the attention to the windows and fireplace. We centralized the seating in the middle of the room and grounded the arrangement with an oversized area rug, a layout that keeps the space feeling light and airy. We'll break up the symmetry by having different style sofas, side tables and throw pillows and then we'll balance the layout with a pair of sculptural arm chairs and add extra seating with low slung benches near the fireplace. Lime-washed walls will give this space a sense of age and character and a custom designed limestone fireplace surround will be a gorgeous focal point flanked by the new cabinetry.
We're installing herringbone white oak wood floors throughout the first floor and, although we have a large area rug, a border around the room of this classic flooring design will be the perfect counterpoint to the more modern furniture. The afternoon sun streams through the larger wall of windows so we're designing neutral linen curtains with a double pinch pleat at the top and mounting them on a thin iron rod. As we promised, we'll have lots of greenery with trees and plants to bring the outdoors into this spacious room.
Next week we'll be shopping virtually at High Point Market for pieces that will bring this space to life so check out our Instagram stories for updates and see what we find!
Don't forget to check back in next Wednesday to see the progress of our One Room Challenge and we hope to see you at Domain (or online) soon!
