A Beautiful View And Week Two Of The One Room Challenge!
We just installed one of our favorite projects with beautiful views on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and we're feeling inspired to bring all that nature into our One Room Challenge!
We've been working on this waterfront property for over a year and yesterday we finally installed one of the lovely homes we designed for our clients. Another home on this same property will be installed next month. Our install days are very long and involved, and this week we brought in everything from the furniture, rugs and lighting to servingware, coasters and hand soap. Now our clients can enjoy this peaceful home and the beautiful view with a glass of Riesling in hand.
All that nature is inspiring me to bring more greenery into our One Room Challenge project for Oprah! In case you missed last week's post, we're participating in a biannual design event called the One Room Challenge this fall, where we imagine a virtual room design for a dream client and show you, our dedicated readers, how we design from start to finish.
This week we're showing you our virtual mood board, a collection of inspiration images that will guide our design process. We know Oprah loves nature and greenery so we'll keep the scenic views front and center in this spacious living room. Wood tones, natural materials like linen and leather, lime-washed walls and vintage finds will bring this room to life and keep a soft, neutral palette.
Next week we'll delve into the furniture plan where we'll work out the appropriate layout and sizing for new pieces. We'll also address some custom built-ins to flank the fireplace and what size rug to source for this room. Lastly, that bay window is screaming for a cozy built-in bench so we'll take a look at what style and size will work best.
